JuryNull is a plain-English reference on the jury's role in deciding the law. It covers every state, the District of Columbia and the federal courts.
Who it is for
Two kinds of reader. One has followed a case in the news, heard the words "jury nullification", and wants to know what they mean and what the law says about them. The other has received a jury summons and wants to know what happens next in their own state. The guide is written for both, in plain words, with no legal training assumed.
What it is
One chapter for each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia and the federal courts. Each chapter follows a criminal jury from the summons to the verdict. At each step it sets out what that jurisdiction's constitution, statutes, court rules and jury instructions say, with the official text quoted and linked. The free pages on this site give the general picture, and the chapters hold each state's details.
What it is not
It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a lawyer. It does not tell anyone how to decide a case or what to do in a courtroom. It reports what the law says and links every statement to the official text, so you can check it. The Disclaimer says this in full.
